The Battlefield - The Palace

It was then that I realized that I had reached the edge of the battlefield, I stumbled over the remaining bodies on the edge and finally stepped of the battlefield. I collapsed onto my knees. I looked down to see grass, and what a wonderful sight it was.  It was something to behold, even though it was something as simple as grass, but it was as if I was never going to see it ever again, but I had. I turned to see how far I had come but couldn't tell. The sight behind me brought back those memories of this place that I wanted to leave behind, the memories began to hurt so much that I winced in pain. I closed my eyes and turned my head back round. I opened them and looked up something was beginning to walk towards me.

As it came closer I recognised theses figures to be a host of angels. They were drifting towards me dazzling and sparkling like the sun. Just when they began to come to close for my liking they stopped and just stood there. I decided it would be good to stand to acknowledge the angels, as I stood I noticed someone else there I looked up at him. I was so relieved to find that I was not the only one who escaped the battle alive, I wanted to run up to him and hug him like I was never going to let him go, but I had no energy left and felt defeated. I hung my head in shame before him and all the angels present. I had fought a battle and lost - I despised myself. I kept my head down but rolled my eyes up, as I did our eyes met. Here we were the only remnant of a huge army that had been defeated before a host of angels. It felt like we were going to face the music.

There was a shuffling at the back of the host of angels and they began to part in the way that dominoes fall. I could see angels parting at the back moving aside as someone stepped forward down the middle of them. It looked like someone was actually playing dominoes with them. As the angels at the front moved to the side a familiar figure stepped forward - it was Jesus. I felt relieved that it was Him.  He looked regal and as He moved towards me and the other warrior I could see that He was smiling.

We waited to hear what He had to say, He gestured to us to rest, and we slumped to the floor drained yet relieved to see our Master.

I looked to find to my amusement a group of children and women waiting on the edge of the battlefield, it was then that I realized that those fighting on the field had all been men, I did not remember seeing a body of one women or child. I looked up to Jesus to see if he could answer the questions in my head.

He began to speak "When these women and children saw that a battle was starting they too wanted to fight, but I persuaded them that it was better to stay here in safety and watch and prey. The battle was very carnal in nature.
It was started by men who had their minds on their own wills and consciences, not on Mine. It was doomed to fail from the start, those here were not part of this carnal warfare, they did not deserve to die, those that did died by their own deeds and at the mercy of their own wills - this would never had happened if it wasn't for their own selfish ways."
