On 20th March 2010 I was descending the Alps in a coach returning from a skiing holiday when God spoke to me. Now I'm not one for dates but during that particular holiday it was my birthday, which makes the date very easy to remember.

Out of the blue God says:

“The upcoming general election will be a hung parliament”

Upon asking Him to repeat Himself which he did there was a pause, then He followed this up by saying

“There will be seven days where there will be no government and this is a sign to the church of the chaos that will happen in your nation if the church doesn't return to it's place of authority

I don't know how many people know that based on the original prophetic word I gave? Not many it's not something people like to talk about. I think the honest truth is the church has yet to learn to handle predictive prophecy appropriately so we don't like it and we don't like to talk about particular prophecies. It's not something I'll sit down and have a conversation about anyway but in those 5 years there's only two people I've really sat down and talked in any length (and I do mean any!) at all about this.

So few will know this anyway, one thing no-one will know, well me & God know, is that after those events happened I asked God what is probably the $65,000 question, which is what happens if the church doesn't return.

The simple answer He gave was “I'll do it all again!”, as in a hung parliament.

There is then one important question and then there is the important point!

The question is if that happens what sort of Government will we have for 5 years and what the chaos will be as a consequence of that government. This is a very important question for us to ask?

However the point is far more important – that if we have another hung parliament and another coalition government then this is a sign that the UK church corporately has not returned to it's place (or what I like to call “seat” – means same thing) of authority.

This is more important for several reasons, one if we understand the Eschatology of Daniel we understand that God is the one who raises up and overthrows governments and kingdoms and the corresponding spiritual powers and principalities hidden behind the curtain – not man! If that's true then the church, or as Daniel teaches the people of God wihtin the context of His “Kingdom” play an important role in this – this is our seat or place authority – namely prayer and more specifically prayer with fasting of which Daniel himself is the perfect Biblical example!

Recently I've observed, and this is true of America, that based on the passivity, ignorance or prayer of the church in that nation then the people of that nation get the government they want and deserve – not necessarily the one they need.

Given the last 5 years of stable government in the UK and the word from God himself, there is grace in the current government in that a man, namely Nick Clegg, stood up and basically looked at what the people wanted, rather than his own personal politics and made the right political conssesions in the nations best interest. For the last five years we have had stability rather than the chaos that some are prediciting in the next five. Ironically the one political figure who seems to have come out of this the worst is no doubt Nick Clegg so the UK has to ask itself do we really want politicans who put the country's interests before their own, we may indeed personally disagree with Nick Cleggs own personal decisions but there is no doubt he put the country's interests before his own – he didn't do it for you personally he did it for all of us collectively. The polsters are predicting a big loss for the Lib Dems. If that happens then it means we ourselves cannot see what's in the nations interests beyond what is personal to us. Given that happening the answer to the question of do we actually want politicians who put those convictions into practice then no.

More importantly in the context of what we are talking about firstly I did see that as God's grace for the nation based on the history of our nation which it looks like we will throw back in His face! So I see the next government given this happening to be one which inhabits the vacuum in which the people of God have squandered the grace of God that God has shown to us as a nation.

Politically either the Conservatives or Labour will be able to form the majority of a coalition government but who will the other parties be. The best fit is the moderate Lib Dems who the polls are suggesting won't have enough seats to make a majority. This means a mixture of Scottish, Welsh and Irish nationalist parties will be required to make a majority. Or UKIP – this will lead to political chaos or some serious concessions being made – worst case scenario is if these are given to UKIP.

The place of authority

That place of authority is prayer and we are not talking about having prayer meetings where we do a bit of prayer a week what we are talking about is creating a habitation for God to exist in our cities and so in our nation and effectively make real what is happening in Heaven on the earth (which is basically the Lord's Prayer) by copying the Throne Room scene in Heaven in Revelation 4 & 5.

This is why it's important to have both worship with intercession and intercession with worship. It's also important that this be modelled on something that is continuos (happens night and day)– because that's what they do in Heaven and it's important that the singing be partly spontaneous. Those are the 3 ingredients to the model that stand out from the Revelation throne Scene.

There are many important Biblical lessons and reasons why God is restoring Houses of Prayer in what we call “night and day...”, “24/7...” or “... in the Spirit of the Tabernacle of David” which are all phrases for the same thing.

How we've seen Houses of Prayer pop up since the turn of the year 2000 around the globe is incredible enough. That there are enough people and indeed enough people who are independently following all the same model can only be God, indeed it is God because this is what God is restoring to the church in our generation. The main resistance is the church in the west which ironically has the most political and economic problems.

I believe that it is important to state given this word that there is an opportunity open to the church that means that if we now respond to what God is saying He will rescue this nation and indeed if we respond to it now then He will rescue and turn the tide before the upcoming election. Whether we have another coalition government or even have to have more than one election to form a government is not what I'm saying that God is saying. What I'm saying is that at this point in time it's highly likely to happen and based on God's original word that this will be a tipping point in the history of our nation. We literally stand on the brink!

So I'll leave that with you but it is up to you and up to us collectively to begin to do this to affect change not just in the nation of the UK but across the nations. We can either respond to this word now, not take it seriously enough by which time when we do respond it may well be too late to prevent the certainty of events that we are currently headed towards.

What I do know is God always offers grace to the humble and that grace will be there forever and that grace will literaly save us from our personal situations. Whether we will humble ourselves enough to heal our land is another matter but it is us, not the Church but His Church, that are the only ones who can affect real change in our nation.
