Fear then really gripped me. The ancient coldness of the towers appearance now changed to the indelegible coldness of the appearance of the entrance. It was a small entrance type box room. With little to it.
I was in a cold dark room. Square in size and small, although square not particularly well chisseled in appearance it looked like it had either been made in a rush or deliberately made to look unattractive. There was nothing to this room other than the cold stone. There was no carpet, no decorations, nothing, The only difference was in front of me a glass like crystal wall. The wall looked to be either see through or a mirror because of it's opaque like appearance that also seemed to shimmer with light. Yet I could neither see my reflection or what was through it. I didn't know what it was but it was strangely intrequing, beguiling in a sense, of maybe wonder, maybe pure wonder as why it was much less distasteful than it's surroundings although it was still not tasteful. Or maybe just wonder at both what it was and what was behind it. For in the crystal wall I could start to clearly make out two doors formed with delicately formed handles that shimmered as if they were a reflection on the water.
Something about it was strangely inviting. The light shinging on it from outside faded as the doors behind me closed. It was now very dark with the only light provided that through the shimmering wall. If this room was not already the most unappealing place to be in it was definitely now! A strong light then shone out from behind the crystal vaneer that was formed in front of me. Without hesitation all of me wanted to push through the double doors.
I appeared to be in another enterance, a kind of waiting room but this was a room totally different from the one I had just gone from. The room was decorated very tastefully, almost like the enterance to a palace. It was similar in size to the last. On the right there was a dark brown chair. Old but beautifully carved, opposite to the left was a sort of carpet hanging on the wall with a picture of a man in his early 30's with peircing brown eyes and thick brown hair that looked like it was almost alive. Underneath was a table that matched the chair by design with a crystal bowl in the middle of it. The carpet was red and over this between either side of the table and the chair was another red carpet that one underneath looked expensive but this one looked like it was the most expensive pure red carpet I had ever seen. I wondered how many had trodden on it, suddenly I noticed there was another presence in the room who had not quite grapped my attention but who I could see out of the corner of my eye. This room looked untouched by human hands and the carpet looked like it had only just been laid. I could see an angel in front of me, they had a towel drapped over their arm much like they were a waiter. I sat down on the chair and looked up at the angel, Behind them were two huge doors made from wood that matched the chair and the table. The double doors were pannelled with old fashioned handles that seemed to be made of bronze though possibly gold, very old gold, worn well touched gold.
The angel smiled at me. An excited smile. I knew that they could tell what I was thinking, which was a puzzled look as to why the handles looked like they had never been untouched yet the rest of the room looked like it had never been touched.
The angel spoke.
We wait... I mean I wait for you... but we wait to serve you and the Sons of Adam in this room, so that you may venture to the next room. We have, many have waited for you to come. For the chosen to come but not many come so we wait here as I have waited for you when we know you will not come we go back through the doors, this is why the room is untouched but the handles aren't. Many times have we wished that many would come through that door and then touch these handles and enter into through the next door, instead it it just me and my kind who have mainly touched these handles that men were made to touch.
Again the angel could see what I was thinking, before I had a chance to ask the question it was answered....
Oh don't be afraid... there is no reason to be afraid. What lies behind this door is for you to see, yes it is fearful but you were made to stand there in fear... I'll just be gone through the doors and when the time comes you can see for yourself.
I sat there silently, alone, mentally moving my heel up and down tapping the floor like a drummer would on the bass pedal of a drum but having far too much fear to actually do it. There was a fear about the previous room. A horrible dreaded fear. This room was much more appealing, too appealing. It was so beautiful it left me with the feeling that I should not be here. To walk through the first doors was foolishness enough. But now to have walked through the second was pure stupidity, and to walk through the third started to fill me with dread, I felt as though any minute someone would come back to bounce my scrawny little behind out the tower and down the steps as that's what I deserved. I was full of my own self consciensce but what was to meet me behind these doors? More doors? As if passing through the first two wasn't bad enough, and I had yet to go through the third. My mind was trapped in the thought of doors behind doors.
As I played this over and over in my head I looked above the doors. In tiny handwriting I could make something written into the wood pannel in gold writing. I could not make out what it said. I was debating should I get a closer look, but I daren't move? Before I could think properly.
The door opened, the same angel appeared poking head round the door.
Do not be afraid, he said then pulling his head back he disappeared and the doors closed. I'm left thinking
Great he says don't be afraid when he quickly reappears
Yes be afraid for you have something to fear...
and then he repeats the disappering act... my mind races great I start thinking I'm in real trouble now.
Reappearing
...they say, but really you do not need to be afraid. You do and you don't...
and the door closes this time with the angel the right side of it.
Yes there is something to fear. Behind these doors is the greatest place you can ever be in all of eternity or all of creation. This room is to be feared and the person who created this room is especialled to be feared. It is a wise fear, a fear of respect, bourne out of devotion and acknowledging the One who is, is who He is and that He also was and He is to come.
You do not deserve to be here.... yet do not fear, for the fear many fear is the fear of man, it is a fear of the failure of their own fall and their own flesh it is not a fear of He who is and it is rooted in self condemnation, but there is no condemnation here because there is no codemnation in Him who's perfect love cast out all fear.
You Fear so that Fear may be your covering, it is your safety net. You must have no safety net here, for He is your safety net. Fear, It's bourne of pride, fear out of pride at your own lack of attainment or of deserving to be here. This is what this tower is about. It is emposing, you will either come here with the fear of man and it will not allow you to see the wonders behind this door or it will cast out your fear. This is why you have to wait, why you are made to wait. For if you enter here with the fear of man there is nothing, and there is nothing because this fear blinds you. To see with the vision that He would have you see you must not only fear Him above all else you must Fear him alone.
That is what this tower is about.... It's not a tower at all many do not even make the steps.... there is the angels with the seven trumpets. The tower itself, the doors that look not only uninviting but impossible to even open... This is to get you to embrace the Fear of Man, only then can you begin to overcome it. The first entrance is for you to realise the fear and then begin to deal with it. Lastly you are hear to overcome that fear which as I have said you can only overcome by Fearing He who is to be feared. When you have embraced this you are ready to enter and the doors will open for you and many things will be revealed to you.
This is why there are many at the market. They trade for second hand knowledge of what lies behind these doors when the real truth is not only were you made to be behind these doors, He actually desires you be there. You can only truly embrace what is here if you repeat the Desire that King David spoke, that is that "One desire do I have to gaze..." if you have that same desire that you will understand the Fear of the Lord that casts out all other fears.
We call this the gazing room and now you have overcome your fear you are ready to enter and there is one thing you must remember you were made to be seated with Him in this place, we call this the gazing room.
I looked up and saw the inscription... Seated with Him in Heavenly Places
At that he just seemed to disappear.
I took this as my invitation to go in. Standing in front of the double doors I grasped the handles, turning the left the doors were unlocked, I flung them open and stepped in.
